comments = Well, I was considering getting them put in. I currently have silicon breasts. I thank God that they have not brought me any discomfort. I workout about 5 days a week and everyone at my gym has saline breasts. Mine look very natural and I had them placed about 8 years ago. I didn't get the aluring look I was looking for. I started modeling at the age of 17 and I felt I had to get them in to "keep up with the sceen". Well, I'm getting married next year and I've lost about 10 lbs. and also lost weight on my breasts. I no longer look full at the top. So I was considering getting Saline implants to get that "full round look". I decided to look into it on the internet and get feedback. After reading different articles that I found, I don't think I will be getting saline implants. I didn't realize how bad they were. I'm extremely scared about the stuff I read. I don't want to get them removed since I'm not experiencing any rejection. I had a horrorable experience when I got my implants put in. And I don't want to go through that pain again!!! I'm 27 years of age. How can I have my breasts checked to make sure everything is okay. I've consulted my general doctor, but he said they looked fine. Is there a special X-Ray I can receive to make sure that there's not any silicon leaking? Please respond.

I did not get the hardening,I did not even know what that was anyway,so I would have believed anything my doctor told me. What I did get was sick,VERY SICK. I now have a life threatening liver disease along with other autoimmune diseases. If only I had had some idea. comments = This is not a comment but I would like to know if you could tell me what is going on with the ligation process concerning individual possibly being paid for the problems they had with breast implants. My mother had breast implants put in around 1972 and then had to have them taken out. Her name is in the ligation action that is taking place but she hasen't heard nothing in a long time. Is the ligation process going to take so long that all the individuals that have a claim will be dead. If you can give me any information, I would appreciate it very much.

She did not have them solely for cosmetic reasons, after having literally thousands of lumps removed from both breasts she was advised to have a bilateral mastectomy at the age of 33. That was in 1977, unfortunately there was not the knowledge then that there is today. comments = I really didn't think I was having a problem with my implants until I started reading articles about the health problems they can cause. I had silicone implants inserted in 1978, and again in 1979 after radical mastectomies. I am 45 years old now and looking back have had quite a few health problems. I feel good now but it never seems to last. I go from bladder infections, extreme tiredness, high blood pressure, heart problems, hysterectomy, and lots of other major problems. Maybe it has nothing to do with my implants, but what do I do if I want to have them removed, and if I do, is there any safe implant I can have them replaced with? My reason for doing them, was not for soceity or a man, it was for ME! I wanted them. I did them to inhance the way I looked. I don't see implants as being fake or unreal or untrue to yourself. People make comments, be happy with what you have, but if that were the case why do people apply makeup, dye their hair, wear colored contacts, have fingertips put on...There are so many little things, that we as society, almost all take part of in some way or another to inhance our look. Granted breast implants may be a bit more futher and sever than some people go, but in all, it is typically done to inhance the look. The reason as to why one would go and get implants is their business, not mine. As for dangers, the patient should be aware of what the risks are, every single one. It is up to the patient though to find out for themself. We cannot expect a doctor to inform us, we should, but if he/she did, then chances are plastic surgons would have hardly any business. Again though, we as society take risks everyday...when we get into a vechile and go out onto the road, we one particpates on a theme park ride. We all know the risks of doing the following and more yet we still do them day to day. Also, in reading the statement, I noticed that all of the comments were from people who had their implants done over a decade or two ago. As years go by, we learn from the years we leave behind. In saying that, I bringing to the attention that breast implants have come a long way from when they originally were introduced. Compared to ten, even 20 years ago, there are less complications.

comments = After my other having a breast removed due to breast cancer in the mid 70's. I at age 22 started having biopsy after biopsy. I was told that I had cystic fybroid disease and that I was a walking time bomb. One day one would be cancer. At age of 29 I had both breasts removed and implnats put in. Usual story last a life time, no more problems, no more breast surgeries. In 1993 I developed a large lump. A mamagram did not show anything so off to surgery again. The verdict...silicone. My implant had not ruptured but "leaked". I had so much leakage the loose silicone broke the incision of the biopsy loose and I was squirting silicone every time I breathed like a whale. Back to surgery, two weeks apart, and had the implants removed and saline put in. Five years later, another lump, another bipopsy, silicone. Will this continue for ever? How many more surgeries? Is it effecting me in other ways I am unaware of? Where do I go? My doctors say the silicone won't hurt you. Well, three time being put ot sleep, cut on and recovery hurts!!!!!! I can't help but wonder what about tomorrow?

Only ten years ago, at the young age of 36, I could run 5 miles twice a week, play racquetball with the best, swim 4 miles a week, and do anything that a normal every day woman could do, and sometimes more. I was active in the PTA, church, community service volunteer, and worked full time. At that time in my life, I could say that I had never been sick one day in my life. I believed very strongly that "health" was primarily a state of mind, and if you keep busy and occupied, you would never be ill. This was how I was raised which followed three generations of very healthy family members.

This was the condition I was in when diagnosed with severe fibrocystic disease of both breast possibly caused by another wonderful creation of man, the under-wire bra.

Three separate surgeons recommend that I have a bilateral mastectomy, and all three also recommended that I be implanted immediately because of my "young age" and also because of my very active life. This all was accomplished in January of 1989, and I quickly was back to my routine.

Six months after reconstructive surgery, June 1989, I developed a red and itchy rash which covered my upper chest, and I felt tired to the point of exhaustion nearly all of the time yet I had trouble sleeping.

One year after surgery, January 1990, the rash refused to be resolved with medication, and along with it came a burning pain in both upper and lower extremities, extreme difficulty in sleeping, and arthralgias and arthritis in upper extremities which all again appeared for no reason. The aching in my neck, arms and shoulders continued to worsened to the point that my range of motion became affected. Within this same year, I had an incident of chest pain with left arm numbness, and I thought I was having a heart attack. For the second time of my life, I was admitted to the hospital to rule out myocardial infarction which was diagnosed as costochondritis and anxiety.

Shortly after my ruled out heart attack, about two months, numbness replaced the burning sensation in my arms and legs, and at this point I could no longer run, my coordination was unstable, and I found that I had difficulty determining where my lower extremities were located.

By 1993 I could not lift my arms, I could barely walk without falling, and the pain in my muscles and joints were unbearable, not to mention the continuation of this mysterious rash, insomnia, severe fatigue, dry mouth, dry eyes and intermittent vertigo. After existing with this mysterious onset and progression of all these illnesses over a short span of approximately 4 years post-implantation, I finally found a surgeon with the help of an attorney to take these things out of my chest.

The surgery was in November, 1993, and around Christmas the majority of my symptoms dissipated to a tolerable point. I resumed my life to the best of my ability, and I returned to nursing school to graduate in 1994, and started to work full time with the almost same old vigor until this March 1998 when all of the above returned with a very cruel vengeance.

Today, has been the onset of hopelessness for me. I have lost the ability to walk without falling. I cannot lift my arms to comb my hair, grasp a cup without dropping it, or write a letter in my own handwriting. I cannot sleep without medication or alcohol, and inspite of how much sleep I get, I am chronically fatigued. I have intermittent loss of memory inflicting the loss of recall of names, numbers or dates of my closest friends, immediate family members. I can no longer dance with my husband because I cannot move my feet without looking at them. I have lost a large percent of my coordination; my hands quiver; I am incontinent of urine with movement or coughing and, of course, the unrelenting rash across my upper chest. I am no longer able to properly take care for my children, husband, pets or myself.

Here in Tyler, Texas my doctors just scratch their heads and continue to run one test after another spending money that I do not have. I have been off of work for over three months, and now I have no insurance, no income and no hope. I have heard maybe this is SLE? Well, we see signs of osteoarthritis. Hey, maybe it's MS or a stroke? The tests are all negative, but yet my illness persists. Well, maybe she's just nuts!! They all act like they are afraid to say what they already know. They continue to push me from doctor to doctor and hand me prescriptions that I cannot afford to fill. If all of this is not bad enough, I cannot find one of the many doctors I have seen to sign my disability, and I am at my wits end!

Recently, I have reviewed many studies both pro and con of the "questionable disease processes" caused by breast implants. I must say, from personal experience, that there is no way under the sun that a website, the FDA, Dow Corning, Bristol Myers, 3M or any money-hungry physician or attorney, politician or especially some mediahound is going to tell me that all of this is not caused by the breast implants that were placed in my chest.

I seems to me that Dow Corning is blowing and continues to blow smoke and the media is fanning in the face of the public. It all boils down to two things: MONEY and POLITICS. Where money and politics are involved, the media is drawn in like buzzards. Sort of like poop and flies! Naturally, all of this has to be controlled by "big-daddy" Dow Corning and all of their "connections". It makes me wonder just how many Swiss bank accounts exist with connections to Dow Corning and it's so-called bankruptcy?

My comments to those who still have implants: My prayers are with you all. I only hope some divining intervention occurs to set you right and guide you to the truth before it is too late for you too. You may be healthy and safe at this moment, but be wise enough to question and keep your eyes and mind open.

REMEMBER: YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

comments = I have had numerous problems, most of which I have been able to deal with. Nerve damage, loss of nursing "let down" reflex, hardness, soreness, however I have had pain in my back right behind where they are that extends upward into my neck and shoulders for six years now. Sometimes I don't think I can keep working or going on, but I always manage somehow. I have tried every treatment possible and get no relief. Someone suggested to me recently that it may be the implants, so I want to have them removed as it is worth a try to get rid of this pain. I am worried about explaining why I look different, and also how ugly my breasts might be when this is done. I have had them for 18 years and think the skin will not go back to where it belongs. I would appreciate your comments. If you would like to make this public - just explain to me where it is being used first.

I just thought it would be nice to be bigger. But for who? the pigs who disguise themselves as men who ogle big breasted women like they are goddesses? Give me a break. comments = After having two children and breastfeeding both, I am only 22 years and feel the need to change my appearance. There are too many risks associated with breast implants. I am happy to have visited this web site, it really helped me feel more confident about my decision to not get implants. I'm sure I can achieve positive results from target area exercises. comments = I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and am trying to identify a cause. I have had saline implants for 30 years (yes, 30 years). Are there any tests you can recommend that will assess my immune status or identify chemicals that can be associated with saline implants?

comments = I had breast implants about eight years ago and have loved every minute of it. I only regret I didn't have it done sooner. They have helped me feel more like a woman and ceased the embarrasement I suffered prior to my surgery. I was not blessed with a bustline to speak of and hated my lack of one.
I am greatful for the on going studies about this type of surgery, and feel all women need to know there are risks as with any surgery. Some will be negetive, while others very positive. There are those of us out there, if not more, who are thrilled with the results we have through implants. We just don't have the focus.
I'm sure horror stories could be found with a number of other selective surgeries as well, ie, liposuction, face lifts, vein stripping, etc.
My suggestion is to do your homework before any surgery, and know risks are there with all of them. But also know, success is also out there too!
